Answer Example 1

In my previous role as Project Manager at XYZ Corp, I was responsible for managing a team of 5 software developers and 2 UX designers. My leadership style is participative; I believe in the importance of team collaboration, and I aimed to foster open communication and mutual respect within my team. For instance, we implemented a major project for one of our top clients. The project was a major success and was delivered on time, on budget, and to the client's satisfaction. It was a challenging project due to its tight deadline and complex requirements, but my team and I managed to overcome these hurdles by maintaining a high level of communication, holding weekly status update meetings and initiating regular team brainstorming sessions to solve problems creatively and promptly. The team's motivation and ability to deliver were positively praised by the leadership team and earned us a departmental award.

Answer Example 2

My role as Shift Supervisor at ABC Retail required me to manage a team of 20 sales associates. My management style is a mixture of transformational and situational. I value innovation, personal development, and the ability for each person to contribute effectively, yet I acknowledge that different situations require different leadership approaches. A significant task I drove was a complete stock inventory within a tight turnaround time. This was a challenging task due to its large scale and potential operational interruptions; however, I managed to rally the team and encouraged them to see the project as an opportunity to understand our inventory better. I also adapted my management approach by providing clearer instruction to less experienced team members and allowing more autonomy to experienced members. We finished the inventory ahead of schedule, and the team credited my management approach as a key factor in the project's success, which bolstered the team's morale and strengthened our bond.
